    “Dear, Diva J” by: Diaz

    Dear Jeanette Hordge,

Thank you so much for coming in on Friday and speaking to us. I really appreciated it because now every time I get on the computer I look up Universities and Colleges out of state even out of the country that I might be interested in going to. When you told us about being careful about the things we put on the internet I felt like you were especially talking to me.  I felt like you were because I do curse a lot on FaceBook and from now on I will be really cautious with the things I put on there. You really encouraged me to want to go to college and fulfill my dreams. Thanks again for coming in and talking to us.

    Sincerely,

    “Dear, Diva J” by: Nakisha

    Dear Jeanette Hordge,

I really want to thank you for coming in and talking to my class. When you were giving advice it really made sense. All the things you were talking about how you got started and what you did to get there really made me reconsider my goals to accomplish. The most inspirational thing I felt you shared was about how you are so young but you have a business and you are running for MISS MARYLAND. Your story was so strong to me that later that day I told my mom everything you told me. I also was impressed on how you asked everyone in the class what they wanted to be or what school they wanted to go to. Thank you again for talking to me, and I hope to meet you again.

    Sincerely,

Nakisha - A.J. Ferrell Middle School

“Dear, Diva J” by: H. Reddick

    June 1, 2011

    Dear Ms. Hordge,

Thank you dearly for the speech. At first I thought, I’m not going to learn anything from this because I really don’t learn anything from other guest speakers. As you started talking, you made some strong points. After that day I really feel that you’ve opened my eyes. What I learned from you is that I determine my future and no one is just going to give me what I need for free. It changed me because I get this feeling inside me that the things that I’m doing now have to change. I have to study hard, I have to work harder, I may have to cut people off along the way to be who I’m suppose to be because no one is going to give me a degree for nothing and no one is going to cater to me all of my life. Thank you for changing my life!

    Sincerely,

Reddick - A.J. Ferrell Middle School
